Care, Guidance
and Support
At Priory Academy, we prioritise creating a safe,
supportive, and inclusive learning environment
where every student feels valued, respected,
and motivated to succeed. From the moment a
child joins our school, we embark on a journey of
providing comprehensive support to help them
thrive academically and personally.
In year 5, they receive a Primary style educational
programme whilst having additional lessons from
subject specialists. From Year 7 students are
assigned to a form group where they form a strong
bond with their form tutor, who plays a crucial role in
overseeing each student's academic and personal
development. Year groups are further supported by
a dedicated Head of Year and Student Services
Manager who helps support students' progress.
Additionally, we have a school counsellor available
on-site to provide additional support when needed.
We foster a sense of belonging and promote positive
values through our House System. Every member of
the Priory Academy community, including students
and staff, belongs to one of four Houses: Beacon,
Grove, Pascombe and Rushmere. These Houses are
named after local areas of interest that we believe
are important to building a strong link to our
community.
Students earn points for their Houses through
excellent work, effort, and participation in specific
competitions. House groups provide a supportive
network that spans across different year levels,
encouraging peer support and motivation.
Career guidance is an integral part of our curriculum,
beginning as early as Year 5 with activities to
increase careers knowledge and inspire ambition.
Students also gain further careers exposure through
trips, external visitors, assemblies, workshops and
career fairs. In Year 10 students participate in work
experience opportunities.
Furthermore, we provide individualised careers
advice and guidance to students. As a result, our
students successfully progress to further education
suited to their career pathway.
We are committed to ensuring that every student
receives the necessary support to achieve their full
potential, including those with special educational
needs. Our experienced Learning Support Team
caters to students with diverse learning
requirements, providing tailored assistance and
resources. We make appropriate arrangements to
enable students with disabilities to access all areas
of school life without barriers.
At Priory Academy, care, guidance, and support are
at the heart of our educational approach. We believe
in nurturing the holistic development of each student,
empowering them to become confident, resilient,
and successful individuals within a nurturing and
inclusive community.
